The 50th anniversary of New York City Landmarks Preservation Law — a revolutionary law that protects historic and cultural places–the New York School of Interior Design presents “Rescued. Restored. Reimagined. New York’s Landmark Interiors.” Only 117 of the 31,000 landmarks are interiors. This exhibition focuses on the importance of protecting these spaces and aims to identify the next generation.

Savannah College of Art and Design

SCAD’s Interior Design Program consistently ranks high on both international and domestic universities’ lists. In fact, it is the seventh consecutive year that the school has been ranked at the top of DesignIntelligence’s Top 100 Interior Design Schools Lists. SCAD was also ranked second in the Red Dot Design Rankings for 2019. SCAD encourages collaboration, innovation, critical thought, effective communication, professional ethics, and collaborative projects. The New School, Parsons New York School Of Interior Design

Parsons was the first to launch an interior design curriculum in the U.S., in 1906. This has been a long-held belief. It provides a strong foundation for a career as an interior designer. Parsons’ School of Constructed environments is where interior design students collaborate with peers and professionals. The goal of the school’s School of Constructed environments is to create spaces that are sustainable, diverse, and healthy. The course covers everything from design theory, materiality, and art history to hand drawing, renderings and three-dimensional modelling. Graduates are well-prepared to work in historic preservation, interior, lighting, set and event design, and other related fields.

Cornell University

The Design and Environmental Analysis program at Cornell teaches interior design. It is part of Cornell’s College of Human Ecology. STEM-certified students have to take foundational courses, then choose electives that will help them achieve their educational goals. These specialisations can be organised around three main research themes: design strategy, innovation, sustainable futures, health, and well-being. RISD’s interior design program is well-known for its commitment to arts education. The program at RISD is located at the intersection between architecture, conservation, design, and engineering. The curriculum encourages students to choose to focus on theatre, exhibition or retail design. The school says that interior architecture is not about the surface but rather the inside design of buildings. Many of our graduates go on to work as conservationists, set design, or retail designers.
